Styling

Styling lets you set your colours, fonts and logo once and apply them to the checkout, payment links and packing slips. Currently in early access.

Early access. Styling is being rolled out gradually. If you see a Soon badge next to Styling in the menu, open the page and click Sign up for early access. We will let you know when it is enabled for your store.

Styling lets you set your brand colours, fonts and logo once, preview the result on a real checkout and activate it on the surfaces you choose. Nothing reaches your shoppers until you activate a theme.

Where to find Styling

  • Open the Kustom Portal and sign in.

  • Select Styling in the menu on the left.

Styling is available to Admin users.

How it works

Themes. A theme is a saved set of styling choices: colours, borders, buttons, corner radius, font and logo. You can save as many themes as you like and switch between them.

Presets. When you create a theme you start from one of four presets or from an existing theme of your own. A preset is ready to activate as it is. Save a copy when you want to change more.

Surfaces. Checkout, payment links and packing slips each carry their own styling. You can activate a theme on one surface, several or all at once, and change one surface without touching the others.

Light and dark. A theme can define light colours, dark colours or both. With both, each shopper sees the palette their device is set to.

Save vs activate. Saving keeps a theme to yourself. Activating publishes it to the surfaces you pick and tells you exactly what it replaces. These are two separate steps so nothing goes live by accident.

Create a theme

  • Go to Styling and click Create theme.

  • Pick a preset or one of your saved themes as the starting point.

  • Give the theme a name and adjust the settings in the editor:

    • Colours: Background, text, buttons and borders. Each colour field warns you when a combination would be hard for shoppers to read.

    • Corners: Sharp, standard or round.

    • Font: Choose a font and a fallback font family.

    • Logo: Add a logo URL. You can set a different logo for light and dark mode.

    • Colour mode: Light, dark or system.

  • The preview next to the form renders a real checkout in your store's currency with your changes applied, updating live as you edit.

  • Click Save. The theme is stored but not yet visible to shoppers.

Activate a theme

  • Open the theme from your theme list.

  • Click Activate and select the surfaces it should apply to: Checkout, Payment link, Packing slip or all three.

  • Review the summary of what the activation replaces and confirm.

The change takes effect on the selected surfaces right away. Shoppers with the checkout already open will see the new styling on their next page load.

Manage themes

From the theme list you can:

  • Edit a theme. Edits to an active theme are saved but not published until you activate again.

  • Duplicate a theme to use it as a starting point for a new one.

  • View history. Every edit is kept in the theme's history, so you can go back to an earlier version.

  • Delete themes you no longer need. Active themes cannot be deleted.

Good to know

  • Styling applies to Kustom Checkout, payment links sent from the portal and packing slips printed from the portal. It does not change your web shop outside the checkout.

  • If you want to leave the early access programme, open the Styling page and click Withdraw.
