What is iDEAL | Wero?
iDEAL is the Netherlands' leading online payment method, used by the vast majority of Dutch consumers for everyday online purchases. It allows shoppers to pay directly from their bank account using their own bank's online banking or mobile app β no card details required.
Wero is the next generation of iDEAL, expanding the reach of the payment method across Europe. For merchants, this means a single payment method that covers Dutch shoppers through iDEAL and a growing base of European consumers through Wero.
This payment method is beneficial for merchants because it significantly increases conversion rates among Dutch shoppers, who strongly prefer paying via their own bank. Shoppers benefit from instant confirmation, strong authentication, and the familiarity of their own banking interface.
When will this payment method become available in my checkout?
iDEAL | Wero is available as an opt-in payment method for Dutch transactions. To enable iDEAL | Wero, please reach out to merchant@kustom.co with the following information: your merchant ID, that you want to add iDEAL | Wero for the Dutch market, and the date you want it added. We will add it as soon as we can for you.
Do I need to enable this payment method manually?
Yes, iDEAL | Wero requires manual activation from Kustom. Contact merchant@kustom.co to request iDEAL | Wero to be enabled for your account, and it will be added for eligible Dutch shoppers.
Fees, pricing, and settlement
Will there be any changes to my prices or additional fees?
Standard transaction fees apply for iDEAL | Wero payments. For detailed pricing information, please refer to your agreement or contact merchant@kustom.co.
How will settlements work when shoppers pay with this method?
When a shopper completes a payment using iDEAL | Wero, the settlement follows your existing payout schedule. The payment is confirmed in real time, and funds are transferred to your account according to your standard settlement timeline β at the same frequency as your other payment methods.

How will shoppers use this payment method in checkout?
When a Dutch shopper proceeds to checkout, they will see iDEAL | Wero as one of the available payment options. Here's what the experience looks like:
The shopper selects iDEAL | Wero from the payment options in Kustom Checkout
They choose their bank from the bank picker
They are redirected to their own bank's online banking environment and authenticate as usual
The payment is confirmed by the bank and the shopper is returned to the merchant's site
The order is completed and an immediate payment confirmation is shown
Do shoppers need to do anything different to use this payment method?
No additional setup is required for shoppers. Any Dutch bank account holder can pay with iDEAL | Wero β they simply select it at checkout and authenticate through their own bank as they normally would.

Will this affect my reporting or order management flows?
Transactions made with iDEAL | Wero will appear in your reporting and order management in the same way as any other payment method. You can view them in the Kustom Portal, and they are included in your standard reports. Your existing order management processes remain unchanged.
