Verifying your identity in the Kustom Portal

Kustom identity verification is required when you no longer have access to your previously connected bank account.

Updated over a week ago

When you need to verify your identity

You will only be asked to complete this process if:

  • You cannot remember your old bank account information, or

  • You no longer have access to the account previously linked to your Kustom profile

In this case, you’ll see a message with a clickable link in bold text: “You can verify your identity instead.” Clicking this will start the verification process.

When Stripe verification is required

Once you choose to verify your identity instead of confirming the old bank account, it is likely because:

  • Your previous identity verification expired or was rejected

  • Stripe requires updated details due to AML/KYC regulations

  • You recently changed ownership, or your user details have changed

  • Stripe needs to validate your access to the connected account

This ensures your payouts and account activity remain secure and compliant.

Step-by-step guide: Identity verification

You’ll be informed that:

  • You need to upload a government-issued photo ID

  • You must take a selfie for verification

Accepted forms of ID

You must provide one of the following:

  • Passport

  • Driving licence

  • National ID

  • Any valid government-issued photo ID that clearly shows your face

Choosing how to verify

On desktop, you can:

  • Scan a QR code to continue on mobile

  • Receive a link via email or text

  • Copy a link to open manually

  • Or continue on your current device

Continue verification on mobile

Once you’ve opened the link on your phone:

  1. Get ready to scan your ID

Kustom supports passport, national ID, and driving licence.

  2. Allow camera access

You must allow camera use to capture your documents and selfie.

  3. Scan your ID

We will prompt you to photograph both sides of your ID (if needed).

  4. Take a selfie

Make sure you're in good lighting and your face matches the photo on the ID.

Your data is protected

  • Encrypted: Stored with the same infrastructure used for payments

Need help?

If verification fails or you're having trouble:

  • Double-check your ID is clear and not expired

  • Ensure your selfie is well-lit and closely matches your ID

  • Try using another device or restarting the process
