MobilePay is a mobile payment app available in Denmark and Finland, available as a payment method in Kustom Checkout.

Overview

MobilePay integrates with Kustom Checkout to give Danish and Finnish shoppers their preferred way to pay. Here's what you need to know:

  • Shoppers can select MobilePay directly in the Kustom Checkout interface

  • Payments are processed in real-time through the shopper's MobilePay app

  • MobilePay offers fast payment confirmation, strong authentication, and a fully localized experience for shoppers in Denmark and Finland


What is MobilePay?

MobilePay is a mobile payment app operated by Vipps MobilePay, used by the vast majority of smartphone users in Denmark and a large share in Finland. It lets shoppers pay instantly by authenticating in the MobilePay app — no card details required at checkout.

Offering MobilePay can meaningfully increase conversion for merchants selling in Denmark and Finland by giving shoppers the payment method they already trust and use every day. Shoppers benefit from a fast, frictionless checkout experience backed by strong security and their bank's own authentication.

When will this payment method become available in my checkout?

MobilePay can be added as part of certain partner onboardings for Danish and Finnish transactions. If you don’t see MobilePay available in your checkout, please reach out to our support with the following information: your merchant ID, that you want to add MobilePay for the Danish and/or Finnish market, and the date you want it activated. We will add it as soon as we can for you.

Do I need to enable this payment method manually?

It depends. For some merchants, MobilePay is added as part of a specific partner onboarding. If it’s not already enabled for your account, contact our support to request MobilePay to be activated, and it will be added for eligible shoppers.


Fees, pricing, and settlement

Will there be any changes to my prices or additional fees?

Standard transaction fees apply for MobilePay payments. To learn more about enabling MobilePay for your checkout and for detailed pricing information, please contact our support.

How will settlements work when shoppers pay with MobilePay?

Settlements follow your existing schedule. Funds are transferred to your account at the same frequency as your other payment methods.


Shopper experience

How will shoppers use MobilePay in checkout?

When a shopper proceeds to checkout, they'll see MobilePay as one of the available payment options. Here's how it works:

  1. The shopper selects MobilePay in the Kustom Checkout

  2. They're redirected to the MobilePay app to authenticate and confirm the payment

  3. The transaction completes instantly and the shopper is returned to the order confirmation page

Do shoppers need to do anything different to use MobilePay?

No. Shoppers just need the MobilePay app installed and linked to a payment method. The flow is fast and familiar — most shoppers complete the MobilePay step in a matter of seconds.


Other questions

Do I need to make any changes to my integration or checkout?

No technical changes needed. Once MobilePay is enabled for your account, it appears automatically for eligible shoppers. Reach out to our support to get it activated if not already activated in your checkout.

Will this affect my reporting or order management flows?

No. MobilePay transactions appear in your Kustom reports and order management systems just like any other payment method.
