What is EPS?

EPS (Electronic Payment Standard) is an online bank transfer method widely used across Austria. It allows shoppers to pay directly from their bank account by logging in to their online banking during checkout. EPS is one of the most popular and trusted payment methods in Austria, supported by virtually all major Austrian banks.

This payment method is beneficial for merchants because it can significantly increase conversion rates in the Austrian market by offering shoppers their preferred, trusted local payment experience. Shoppers benefit from instant payments, bank-level security, and a seamless checkout process without needing to enter card details.

When will this payment method become available in my checkout?

EPS is available as an opt-in payment method for Austrian transactions. To enable it, please reach out to our support with the following information: your merchant ID, that you want to add EPS for the Austrian market, and the date you want it activated. We will enable it as soon as we can for you.

Do I need to enable this payment method manually?

Yes, EPS requires manual activation from Kustom. Contact our support to request it to be enabled for your account, and it will be added for eligible Austrian shoppers.

Will there be any changes to my prices or additional fees?

Standard transaction fees apply for EPS payments. For detailed pricing information, please contact our support.

How will settlements work when shoppers pay with this method?

When a shopper completes a payment using EPS, the settlement process follows your existing schedule. The payment is processed in real-time, and funds are transferred to your account according to your standard settlement timeline β€” at the same frequency as your other payment methods.

How will shoppers use this payment method in checkout?

When a shopper proceeds to checkout, they will see EPS as one of the available payment options. Here's what the experience looks like:

  1. The shopper selects EPS from the list of payment options in Kustom Checkout

  2. They are redirected to their bank's online banking portal

  3. The shopper logs in using their online banking credentials

  4. They review and confirm the payment details

  5. The transaction is completed instantly and the shopper is returned to the merchant's confirmation page

Do shoppers need to do anything different to use this payment method?

To pay with EPS, shoppers need an Austrian bank account with online banking access which is supported by virtually all major Austrian banks. There's nothing new to set up. At checkout, they simply select EPS, log in to their bank, and confirm the payment. The process is fast, familiar, and secure.

Do I need to make any changes to my integration or checkout?

You do not need to make any technical changes to your integration or checkout configuration. To enable EPS, please reach out to our support with your merchant ID and the date you want it added. We will take care of the rest.

Will this affect my reporting or order management flows?

Transactions made with EPS will appear in your reporting and order management systems just like any other payment method. You can view these transactions in your Kustom Portal, and they will be included in your standard reports. Your existing order management processes remain unchanged.
