Kustom API endpoint switch - FAQ

Learn how to switch from Klarna's API endpoints to Kustom's new endpoints and update your credentials.

Overview

Kustom is switching to its own independent infrastructure to provide you with better reliability, faster development, and new features.

To continue using Kustom's API, you must update your API credentials and switch to Kustom's new endpoints before March 31, 2026.

This guide will walk you through the switch process step by step.


What you need to do


Important dates

  • Deadline: March 31, 2026

  • What happens if you don't switch: Your API connection will stop working, which may disable your checkout

  • Downtime: No downtime if you follow the switch steps correctly


What stays the same

Good news! Most things remain unchanged:

  • API endpoints, parameters, and logic are identical to Klarna's setup

  • No changes to your checkout or settlement processes

  • No changes to payout schedules or report formats

  • Customer experience remains exactly the same

  • Only the base URL and credentials change


Testing your switch (optional)

If you want to, before going live with the new API credentials, you can test your integration to ensure everything works correctly:

  • Test in the Playground environment first using https://api.playground.kustom.co

  • Complete a test purchase to verify your checkout flow

If you don't have a test environment, switch during low-traffic hours and verify that checkout loads normally.

  • If you have multiple stores or merchant IDs, create new credentials for each one


Managing your credentials

Storing credentials securely

Your API credentials provide full access to checkout, order management, and settlements. Store them securely and never share them publicly.

Rotating or revoking credentials

To rotate or revoke credentials:

  • Log in to the Kustom Portal

  • Go to Integrations

  • Generate new credentials or delete old ones

Legacy Klarna credentials

You can keep your Klarna credentials temporarily to handle legacy orders or access historical data through Klarna's Merchant Portal.

sFTP credentials

If you need new sFTP credentials, this will soon be available to generate in the Kustom Portal.

Whitelisted IP addresses

If you whitelist Kustom's IP addresses, they remain the same for both environments:

Production:

  • 63.34.181.121

  • 34.252.11.205

  • 54.72.22.140

Playground:

  • 54.75.162.237

  • 99.80.156.64

  • 99.80.3.148


If you use a platform integration

If you use a platform like MyStore, Quickbutik, or WooCommerce (Krokedil):

  • Kustom will coordinate directly with your platform to handle the endpoint updates

  • You'll be notified when your platform's integration is ready

  • You may still need to generate new credentials in the Kustom Portal

Settlements and historical data

  • Your payout schedules and settlement processes remain unchanged

  • Historical data remains accessible through Klarna's Merchant Portal and Klarna's sFTP

  • For orders created before the switch, process refunds through Klarna's Merchant Portal
