Klarna Express Checkout Button

Explore Klarna Express Checkout — a fast, seamless way for customers to pay with Klarna in one click.

Updated this week

Overview

Klarna Express Checkout Button (KEC) gives shoppers a faster, smoother way to pay by using their saved Klarna details. The button appears as “Pay with Klarna” and lets customers autofill their information and complete the purchase instantly.

KEC helps reduce friction and boost conversion by making checkout effortless. It’s automatically available for all merchants using Kustom Checkout (KCO), making it easy to offer a premium Klarna experience with no extra setup.

How it works

When shoppers click “Pay with Klarna,” they complete the purchase directly within Klarna’s secure Express Checkout flow — without returning to Kustom Checkout (KCO). Their saved Klarna details are automatically applied for a smooth and instant payment experience.

  • A faster, one-click purchase process

  • A seamless, trusted checkout experience

  • Higher conversion and happier customers

About Klarna Express Checkout Button

Klarna Express Checkout is designed to enhance the customer journey by reducing unnecessary steps during checkout. It prioritizes ease of use, security, and speed — three key drivers for higher conversion and a better shopping experience.

  • The button is shown when it provides real value for the shopper, typically before any details have been filled in.

  • Klarna uses secure, stored customer information to prefill fields and simplify checkout.

  • The experience is optimized to minimize friction and maintain trust throughout the payment process.

  • Klarna Express Checkout works seamlessly alongside other Express buttons in Kustom Checkout.

When Klarna Express Checkout Button is shown

Klarna Express Checkout appears when it can improve the checkout experience. It will not appear when:

  • The shopper’s address form is already completed or pre-filled

  • The merchant setup includes features like Kustom Shipping Assistant (KSA), Shopper Verification (ex: age verification via BankID), or merchant mandatory checkboxes for terms.

  • The merchant checkout uses certain callbacks (like shipping_option_update, address_update, or country_change)

  • Merchant is integrated using the Mobile App SDK (for Native iOS or android Apps)

  • The shopper uses the browser Firefox

These rules ensure that the Express button is only shown when it improves checkout, not when it would add unnecessary steps. However Klarna is always available as a payment option independently of the Klarna Express Checkout Button.
